AI writes, analyses and optimises at a pace no human can match. The logical response? Speed up ourselves. More tools, more output, less time to think. In her new book De Mentale Revolutie (in English: The Menatal Revolution - launching in 2027), Dr Elke Geraerts, CEO of Better Minds, proposes the exact opposite. To thrive in a world of intelligent machines, we need to invest in what machines cannot do.
The faster technology becomes, the more valuable our human qualities become. Sensing what is left unsaid in a meeting. Questioning an AI-generated answer instead of simply accepting it. Making a decision that is not only efficient, but also right.
Ironically, these very qualities are under pressure.
What we outsource, we unlearn. Constant task switching and mental overload do the rest:
less focus, more stress.
The future does not call for faster people. It calls for more humanity.
The word “soft” does these skills a disservice. It makes them sound optional, like a nice extra alongside the real work. In reality, they are the most underestimated skills in any organisation.
Technical knowledge has an ever-shorter shelf life, and AI is taking over much of it. But guiding a team through uncertainty, giving feedback that truly resonates, saying no when something isn’t right: these are things you cannot automate. They take practice, courage and energy. Or, as Elke puts it: soft skills are the hardest skills.

The book explores six human qualities that are becoming increasingly important:
The encouraging news: these are not innate talents. They are skills. And skills can be trained.
With her book Authentieke Intelligentie, Elke laid the foundations. Back in 2019, she explained why humans would ultimately prevail over computers. De Mentale Revolutie takes this a step further: from insight to practical guidance for every employee, leader and organisation.
We would love to introduce the book to you in person. The book launch events will take place in February 2027. Join the waiting list to be among the first to receive an invitation.

Insight alone does not change behaviour. That takes practice in everyday work. That is why we have translated the book into an offering for organisations:
You can explore each quality in a standalone session or combine them in a tailored learning programme. We also offer a wide range of workshops on Emotional Intelligence, Resilience and Reflection. Explore our full offering → all services. This is how you build resilience, connection and leadership from within.
