John Heymans
John Heymans is a Belgian Olympic athlete, bio-engineer, and entrepreneur who reached the 5000m final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games - just eight years after running his first competitive race.
A magna cum laude graduate in bio-engineering from KU Leuven, John was never supposed to become a professional athlete. He started out as an ambitious hockey player dreaming of the Belgian national team. When that door closed, he pivoted to athletics at 18, and everything changed. During the pandemic lockdowns, an Olympic dream took shape - one that most people around him dismissed as unrealistic.
With no financial backing, no federation support, and no professional infrastructure, John took matters into his own hands. He booked a one-way ticket to Kenya, immersed himself in the science of elite performance, assembled his own medical and coaching team, and built a personal brand that would become the largest social media presence in men's athletics worldwide. In 2024, against all odds, he lined up in the Olympic final in Paris - the only finalist without a major shoe deal.
John is a two-time Belgian champion. Off the track, he is developing an algorithm for personalised training schedules and is launching his own start-up. He thinks like an entrepreneur, trains like a champion, and communicates like a born storyteller.
His keynote The 5 Lessons Behind My Olympic Final has captivated corporate audiences with its raw honesty, scientific depth, and unmistakable message: the biggest breakthroughs happen when you refuse to follow the conventional playbook.
