Dare to Lead is an intensive and in-depth leadership programme that makes an impact.
In these demanding times, managers are more than ever a pivotal figure, and not only because of their official position. Employees look to their manager to know what the norms and values are within the organisation, the do's and dont's. Managers must therefore stand firm, striking a good balance between being strong and decisive on the one hand, empathetic and committed on the other. Only in this way can they create a psychologically safe environment, where people can grow and innovative ideas are shared. It goes without saying that all this is quite a challenge, which requires more than a little guts from leaders today.
The people-oriented leader
Today's dynamics of people-to-people in the workplace are forcing leaders to become people-oriented leaders, defined as leading with authenticity, empathy and adaptability. These traits have for some time been ranked among the most important qualities of great leaders - but they were considered nice to have. Today, employees demand them.
Better Minds has been providing leadership training for many years. We have extensive experience in mentoring international groups of leaders and take them on a leadership journey Dare to Lead.
Key principles of our multi-day leadership program:
+ Self-leadership comes before leadership towards others
Before you can bring out the best in others, as a leader you need to optimise your own potential by becoming aware of your strengths and addressing your pitfalls.
+ Leadership development first, then leadership training
Our training focuses first on developing a leadership attitude before we train leadership competencies (e.g. feedback skills, strategic thinking, etc.). If you don't follow this sequence, you will only learn 'tricks'.
+ All leaders are managers, but not all managers are leaders
The role of 'manager' is formally assigned to you from above, whereas 'leader' is a personal role for which you get the mandate from below. One role is about functional superiority, the other about psychological superiority. You can only learn the latter in relational contexts.
